About this listing

Cottesloe is a small farming operation located just on the outskirts of Hagley in the Meander Valley. It has been owned by the current owner for 20 years. Cross Bred breeding ewes and cattle can be found happily grazing the perennial pastures. Excess fodder is ensiled. Native tree plantings have been established allowing you to wander and familiarise yourself with some shrubs and trees.

There is a beautiful cottage garden which has been established under existing trees where you may choose to relax, unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet surrounding.

The space

Located on a lovely grass section nestled behind some well-established Hawthorn hedges, you will find your tiny house. A beautiful fire pit is available for use by guests (pending no fire permits in place). You may roam around the paddocks and native tree plantings looking for bird life. A cottage garden situated under established deciduous trees is also available for guests unwind in. Perhaps enjoy a glass of wine or read a book.

Our tiny house is a lovely studio space of 155 sqft. It offers guests a comfortable stay with its well-equipped kitchenette, complete with a queen sized bed, ensuite bathroom, air-conditioning and heating. Perfect for 2 persons!

The kitchenette has everything you need to cook your light meals with. A portable cooker, cookware, cooking utensils, cutlery, dishes & silverware, microwave and even a mini fridge. The portable cooker can be kept in the drawers when not in use to maximise space.

Our bathroom facilities follow ecologically sustainable principles, including a waterless eco-friendly compost toilet, hand basin and shower (gas heated for hot showers). In Australia's severe climatic challenge of bush fires and drought, we help to save the environment by conserving water using an eco-friendly toilet. Wastes are broken down in the compost toilet via an aerobic decomposition process. It is a waterless system (no need to flush!), whereas a standard dual flush toilet would use up to 350L of water per week. An aeration fan helps in the decomposition process and minimises odours.

If you're using your own soap, shampoo, tooth paste, we ask that you bring biodegradable ones so that the grey water runoff does not harm the environment. Thank you!

Guest access

Guests will have access to the tiny house and its surroundings. You are free to stroll around the farm paddocks, wander through the native tree plantings or relax in the "Enchanted Garden".

Guests are not allowed to enter paddocks with livestock in them.

Other things to note

– Outdoor firepit is available except if there is fire restriction
– Initial firewood bucket is provided for free. Then additional firewood can be purchased for $20 per wheelbarrow
– Recycling and compost facilities are available.
– Livestock and pets are present on the property, so general farmyard noise should be expected.
– Occasional farm vehicles may drive past during your stay.
