A Tiny Slice of Paradise

Story by Zemmy Lee

Embrace the slower pace of life with a getaway to Tiny Buffalo. Located two and a half hours away from Melbourne, Buffalo is set on the outskirts of Wilsons Promontory National Park and surrounded by rolling green hills, as far as the eye can see. Comfortably sleeping three, Buffalo will feel like your (tiny) home away from home and is brimming with rustic country charm. With Wilson’s prom located a short drive away, Buffalo is a great home-base for nature-loving explorers. If hiking isn’t your thing, your lovely hosts Kerrie and Warrick have got you covered with their wealth of knowledge of the local area.

Affectionately called the “Prom” by locals, Wilsons Promontory National Park is Victoria’s largest coastal wilderness area. Known for its rugged granite mountains, hidden coves, white sandy beaches and it’s abundance of wildlife, there’s something for everyone!

If you’re only in the area for a weekend, I would recommend ticking off The Big Drift (Think epic sand dunes reminiscent of Mars), The Darby River Walk ( A easy leisurely walk set against a beautiful mountain backdrop) and Squeaky Beach (Pristine white sand and perfect for swimming, surfing and fishing!)

Just a 10 minute drive away from Buffalo, Fish Creek township is a must-see. Home to a bustling creative community, the main street is lined with boutique stores, studios, galleries and cafes with picturesque rural views. If you’re feeling peckish, check out Long John Pickles a cafe/food store with a focus on locally sourced produce & products. They are famous in the region for their all day breakfast menu and top tier sandwich selection.
