A World Away from City Life
Story by Chelsey Jay
Driving through scenic winding roads, we were so excited to finally disconnect from our busy lives and celebrate our anniversary in a tiny home in Gloucester.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by our wonderful hosts, Jenn and Rowan who were surrounded by curious chooks. They made sure we had everything we needed during our stay and more! Our cabin was tucked away near the river’s edge and was super cosy. It was all the thoughtful touches – fresh eggs and milk in the fridge, board games, a thick warm blanket for sitting by the firepit at night and a helpful guidebook with instructions on how to make the most of our home and surrounding areas. The first thing we did was set up a wine and cheese spread to enjoy on the deck; listening to the sounds of the river and nearby birds.
By day, we explored the river, observed the devastation from the tragic January/February NSW floods, met Summer the resident pony, fed the chooks and chatted with Jenn and Rowan (who have so many stories to share – ask them about Disneyland!). By night, we enjoyed the Byron Bay cookies, the fire pit outside and the soft pillows.
We really embraced this experience and truly reconnected with nature.
