I was looking for a place to stay for my next visit to Mudgee, and Cabernet Tiny House was just the spot. About 45 minutes out of town, along picturesque winding country roads, amongst gorgeous hillside and farmland dotted with wattle trees is the Dreams Alpaca Farm.
Fernando is a friendly and welcoming host, and the valley and hillside views from Cabernet House are beautiful. The tiny house is off-grid and solar-power only, with an extended deck with an outdoor bathtub and space for chairs and table to eat breakfast in the sun. There are options to have a tour of the farm or purchase food packages so you can relax and go absolutely nowhere, or you can go for a drive and head into Mudgee for the day.
During my stay, I spent the day in Mudgee. Having been to Mudgee before I had a list of places I wanted to visit, including Althea by Zin for coffee and a delicious pastry for breakfast, the Farmers Markets to buy some local produce, the Little Cooking School for coffee and morning tea and pick up some soup for dinner from the commissary. Next, I did a little shopping, browsing some of the boutique shops in the centre of town, before heading to Moothi Estate for a wine tasting and lunch. I spent my afternoon back at the tiny house curled up with a cup of tea and a book.
