We loved our stay in Boston's Retreat. I'm always surprised by the unexpected nature encounters you can have at a place like this. Unlike conservation parks where it really is 'look but don't touch' this gives us the chance to get our hands dirty and really engage with nature. We were lucky enough to spend 2 nights at Valley View Villa’s Boston’s Retreat as a part of the Guardians of Earth (https://www.guardiansofearth.io/) Nature Realm stay program. We enjoyed taking in the local nature, and actually doing a survey of the beautiful biodiversity as well.
It was an easy location to find. Gates were open on arrival and property owners were friendly and helpful. Parents and kids came out to say Hi. As the winter had made the track muddy, they drove us in their 4-wheel drive the 700m to the tiny home (though they are upgrading the track too).
Tucked away at the back of the property, the tiny house farm stay is in an ideal spot, away from road noise and any other sounds other than nature. With the Inman River alongside the villas the evening is the sound of flowing water, frogs and bird life.
Accommodation was neat and clean. The strong Wi-Fi signal was also greatly appreciated. The villa has large windows that let you witness nature from the comfort of an air-conditioned room, especially beneficial for those cold winter days.
We took the time to record some of the life around the property and found an amazing array of species. The area is shared with a small flock of sheep, including a lamb only a few days old. Although we visited in a wet & old winter, we trekked about in gumboots and rain jackets, and found an amazing array of species. Found 5 or so species I'd never encountered before. Had fun chasing a marsh frog into a stream while spotlighting after dark. Watched the river triple in flow over the days we were there. My daughter especially loved the farm animals.
Definitely hoping to revisit on a warm Spring day. Loved our experience. Thanks Tiny Away.
