The Outlook Tiny House Experience
Our amazing weekend getaway to The Outlook Tiny House started the exact moment we hit the road! The tiny house is located in Charteris Bay, close to Christchurch (about 35 minutes away), in the beautiful Diamond Harbour area. The entire road to get to the accommodation is scenic and very beautiful, as it goes by the coast, passing through many bays and green areas.
We stopped for lunch at Sign of the Kiwi and had delicious seafood chowder while enjoying a view! From where the cafe is, at the top of Port Hills, you can see the Lyttelton Port and Diamond Harbour area from one side, and Christchurch from the other side!
Martin, The Outlook’s host, was super nice, welcoming and very helpful. He also showed us around and gave us some great recommendations to enjoy the location!
The view from the tiny house to the Banks Peninsula bays, Diamond Harbour and Lyttelton Port is incredible, and during night time we got very cozy by the fire pif on the outside, making marshmallows and watching the port lights from the distance, over the ocean!
As the tiny house is surrounded by nature, we could spot the Kerer? bird (NZ’s pigeon) on a tree, very close to the house, so cute!
There are binoculars available for birdwatching and if you are lucky enough, to also see the dolphins and the Orcas from the porch.
The Diamond Harbour Village is about 10 minutes away and there is a nice cafe, a park, a bay as well as the pier for a stroll!
It was such a good experience, being in comfortable accommodation while in contact and surrounded by nature! The place is peaceful and relaxing, great to unwind, recharge and reconnect! And even though we got a bit of rainy weather, it was a great stay, with great activities and time to rest as well! One day we could enjoy a cozy breakfast inside, on the bed, watching the view from the window while it drizzled a bit outside, and the other day, a breakfast outside by the fire pit enjoying the fresh air!
