To relax and unwind

Christmas and covid means a lot of work for us during the cheerful season as there's less family around to help. We had a small family Christmas and spent the most of boxing day cleaning up before heading to our little getaway at Summerleigh. Being that it was only an hour away from where we live, we loved the fact that we could just relax without the pressure of a long drive. And Covid means holidays looked very different from what they used to be. We arrived at Summerleigh just as the sun was setting, the views were amazing and the backdrop ever so picturesque. We had a look around the tiny house and was quite impressed by everything that was provided, left our bags and went for a walk around the farm. The free range chickens were super cute and they have a little tent and an old caravan they live in along with their own guide dog that greeted us with his waggy tail. And then there were the horses. The majestic beasts with long hair covering it's eyes, being able to roam around not a few minutes walk from the Tiny, felt like we were on the set of a movie. After which we basically just sat outside the tiny watching the sun set before our eyes.   Dinner time was a pleasant surprise as we just wanted to have a simple dinner after huge meals the past few days so we made some spam and mee goreng. The surprise came in the form of eggs. Eggs that were from the Summerleigh Farm. From the chicken we just saw roaming around in the field where the old caravan and tent was. This elevated our little noodle experience to the next level. That night just before we went to bed, we had a look outside and to our surprise, the skies were so clear and magical we found ourselves sitting under the stars doing absolutely nothing but marvelled at God's creation and the fact that we were only a mere hour away from home. Morning came and we were ever so grateful that the first ever night we spent in a tiny house was an amazing experience, something we weren't really sure about was how we'd cope sleeping with me being an overweight middle aged man that has sleep apnea and required a machine to help me sleep. The power solution on the tiny had no problem handling that and I slept like a baby. Waking up I made some coffee with our nanopresso travel coffee maker while the missus made some gluten free toast that was provided us by the generous host along with some butter and marmalade. I have to say, having breakfast while staring at the rolling hills that was just outside the window was a welcome experience compared to the usual grab-toast-and-rush-out-the-door breakfast that so many of us usually have. Lunch at a tiny was again elevated by the host's eggs from the free range chicken on site. And was accompanied by a herd of cows just outside the tiny. We really didn't do much on this little getaway and I suppose that was the point. To relax, and unwind, without the discretion of our iPhones, computers and tvs. To have conversations that usually won't happen as we're too busy with "life", or to just be present. Long walks around the property visiting all the animals were quite enjoyable and paired with generous host that blessed us with amazing eggs from the farm, what else could we ask for? It was the first time we stayed in a tiny house, and I have to say, it won't be the last.
