Vineyard Life at Little Rae

Nestled among a working vineyard and overlooking Lake George Winery, Little Rae, the ideal farm stay NSW escape from the busy city life. A mere 35 minutes from Canberra’s Parliamentary Triangle, Little Rae had every comfort
one could ask for with a backdrop to match. 

On the way to Lake George, we stopped by the weekly farmer’s market on the North of Canberra and picked up a range of local produce and breads for our stay. While Little Rae came with a kitchen that included an electric pan, we weren’t planning on cooking, and wanted to embrace the natural surroundings with a minimum-fuzz dinner.

The cellar door was open when we arrived, and host Sarah was welcoming and generous with her time as she described the cool climate of the region, the impact that this had on the vines, and the wines produced on-site. We picked up a couple of bottles to enjoy with dinner and headed off to our tiny home. There was pre-cut firewood by the firepit and the cooler weather called for a warm fire to accompany dinner.

After a leisurely feast complemented by a delicious glass of Lake George Winery’s Weereewaa red, we headed in, caught up with some reading, and slept in a comfortable queen-sized bed.

We had pre-ordered the breakfast from our host, which came in a cute basket with generous amounts of cereal, yogurt, and seasonal fruits and included some Lake George Winery red wine jelly – breakfast in bed was one of those little perks we enjoyed thoroughly! Our stay at Little Rae was the perfect escape we needed!
